Hunger Has Become a Meal

Shadows creep, darkness falls
A hunger that echoes, through empty halls
It's a whispered promise, of a meal yet to come
A longing that's a heavy chain, that weighs upon the heart, and is never undone
Memories of feasts, now taunt and tease
A bittersweet reminder, of the hunger that never ceases
It's a gnawing sense, of something missing deep
A pain that's a hollow ache, that only food can keep
In the mirror's gaze, a reflection stares
A hunger that's a haunting, that lingers, always there
It's a constant reminder, of the struggle to survive
A pain that's a nagging voice, that refuses to be silenced, or keep us alive
But still we rise, we face the day
A hunger that's a fuel, that drives us on our way
It's a fire that burns, a passion that never fades
A pain that's a reminder, of the strength that hunger has made.
